City of Edmonton recognizes November as Family Violence Prevention Month

November 4, 2025

This November, the City of Edmonton joins partners, advocates and survivors to recognize Family Violence Prevention Month. It is a time to raise awareness, show compassion and take collective action to prevent harm before it happens.

Family violence includes more than physical harm. It can take the form of emotional, psychological, sexual or financial abuse, and often occurs in private spaces, hidden from others. The generational impacts of family violence can shape a person's health, confidence and ability to participate fully in community life.

If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence, help is available 24 hours a day. Call the Family Violence Info Line at 310-1818 or 211 for local supports. In an emergency, always call 911.

To honour survivors and raise awareness, the High Level Bridge will be lit purple on November 28 as a symbol of hope, strength and solidarity.
