Governor Ivey Welcomes Alabama Students Back for New School Year

MONTGOMERY - Governor Kay Ivey on Friday released a video message welcoming Alabama students back to school and encouraging them to embrace the opportunities a new academic year brings.

In her message, Governor Ivey also expressed her gratitude for Alabama's teachers, school leaders and parents, thanking them for the important role they play in preparing the next generation for success.

"As students return to classrooms across our state, I want them to know they have my full support," said Governor Ivey in her message. "I will be keeping our students, teachers and parents in my prayers, and I look forward to seeing all they accomplish this school year."

I am proud to welcome each of you back to school for the start of a new year.

Being back in the classroom with your teachers and classmates is an exciting time. But I know that it might also be a little intimidating. And that's ok.

The start of a new school year offers a chance to start fresh, though.

Commit to yourself to work hard in your classes, learn from your teachers, read more, get involved, make a new friend, and be kind to your classmates. Never be afraid to ask questions and maybe even step out of your comfort zone.

Know that each of you have my full support, and I will be cheering on all your success this school year. I will keep you, your teachers and parents in my prayers.

Now, let's make this the best school year yet.
