ECA to host mid-year review to strengthen joint delivery and UN@80 reforms

Addis Ababa, 16 June 2026 (ECA) - The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is scheduled to hold its Second Quarter Accountability and Programme Performance Review Meeting (APPRM) at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa from June 17 to 19.

The event, themed "Enhancing Joint Delivery for Improved Results after UN@80 Reforms: A Mid-Year Review," will bring together ECA's leadership, programme managers, and partners to evaluate progress toward the Commission's 2026 Annual Business Plan targets.

During the APPRM, participants will focus on advancements in ECA's subprogrammes and support divisions, with particular emphasis on collaborative efforts across four key thematic areas: the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Regional Value Chains, Technology and Digital Transformation, and Macroeconomic Policy and Planning. The meeting will also examine resource mobilization and implementation challenges to pinpoint areas that need acceleration or modification.

"This APPRM is designed to enhance the ECA's initiatives by promoting collaboration and synergy across divisions and with partners within the ECA system, to achieve programme results more efficiently and effectively" explained Said Adejumobi, Director of the Strategic Planning, Oversight, and Results Division (SPORD),which is responsible for the APPRM.

The APPRM is expected to deliver several outcomes, including clear identification of areas needing greater focus or modification, consensus on mid-course corrections and joint initiatives, and enhanced accountability and coherence across ECA's programme pillars and support services.

The event will feature presentations by ECA's leadership on mid-year progress and performance metrics, briefings on budgetary status, risk management, and joint delivery challenges and successes. Discussions will focus on course-correcting measures and risk mitigation strategies.

The APPRM will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual attendance.
