The Freedom of Information Foundation's annual conference is scheduled for Sept. 26 in Austin at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center.
This year's event, entitled We the People: Holding Government Accountable, brings together journalists, government leaders, attorneys and Texas citizens to delve into government transparency and free speech.
FOIFT will present its James Madison Award and Spirit of FOI Award at the conference.
This year's event will explore transparency issues raised by July's Hill Country flooding; recent developments and future Open Government issues at the Texas Legislature, and the use of the Texas Public Information Act to pursue the truth.
The featured luncheon speaker is CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford, a recognized authority on the Supreme Court and author of the New York Times bestseller "Supreme Conflict: The Inside Story of the Struggle for Control of the United States Supreme Court."
Crawford has reported on most of the Court's major judicial appointments and confirmation hearings of the past 30 years.
