Bridge improvements begin Sept. 8 on US-31 over Walsh Road and Colby Street in Whitehall

WHITEHALL, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $2.8 million to improve the northbound and southbound US-31 bridges over Walsh Road and US-31 Business Route (Colby Street) in northern Muskegon County.

Traffic restrictions:
Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in effect throughout the project on US-31 and Colby Street. Walsh Road will be closed under US-31, and the northbound US-31 Exit 128 to Colby Street will be closed. Left turns will not be allowed from southbound US-31 onto Colby Street.

Jobs numbers:
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 24 jobs.

Safety benefit:
This investment will repair and improve the bridges to further extend their service lives.
