Portion of Downtown "O" Street to Close Beginning May 18

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that "O" Street between 13th and 16th streets will close beginning Monday, May 18, for water main replacement and Black Hills Energy utility work. The closure, part of Project "O" Street, will be in place until fall 2026, weather permitting.

The recommended detours are Antelope Valley Parkway, "L" Street, "K" Street, "P" Street, "Q" Street, Ninth Street, and 10th Street.

LTU offers several ways to stay updated on project progress, including:

  • Information on the project webpage at lincoln.ne.gov/ProjectOStreet.
  • Weekly construction updates on the project webpage.
  • Text message updates through TextLNK. To sign up, text "PROJECTOSTREET" to 91896.
  • A weekly Coffee with the Contractor meeting at 9 a.m. Wednsedays at the Music Box on 14th Street between "O" and "N" streets.

Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around this closure. LTU appreciates the public's patience during this closure and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
