Notable Trends

  • Officers arrested the suspect in the aggravated assault reported this week. The suspect punched the victim numerous times, dragged them across the residence by their hair, strangled them, wouldn't let them call 911 and wouldn't let them leave. They were able to text a friend for help and finally get a call to 911 without the suspect realizing.
  • Two commercial burglaries reported this week with one still an open investigation. In one case, the suspect broke a store front window, reached in and stole merchandise from the display. In another case, two suspects previously trespassed from a business returned to steal more merchandise. They fled before police arrived but were recognized from multiple incidents and trespasses at different locations of the business. Charges were referred to the prosecutor.
  • Two residential burglaries reported with one arrest. In the arrest, the suspect broke the window to a vacant residence and climbed inside. He was located on the street and was convinced he was being followed by someone. In the other case, the door was pried open and blank checks were stolen. Ensuring your door has a strike plate with three-inch screws is a great way to deter someone from prying a door open. We offer free home security assessments if you'd like to learn more tips. • Three robberies reported with one still an open investigation. Officers arrested a suspect in one case where he tried to push an employee trying to stop a shoplift. The employee avoided the brunt of the push and officers located the suspect nearby. In the other case, the suspect ran up to the victim with a knife demanding money. The victim was not injured.

Other Items

  • If you're planning to drink at holiday celebrations, put plans in place for a safe ride home. We've already had 118 DUI arrests for 2025 compared to 87 last year. Help keep the roads safe by planning in advance.
  • We've had multiple incidents of vehicles hitting pedestrians recently. Slow down, especially on dark rainy days and nights. If you're walking or biking to your destination, wear reflective clothing and a light to help drivers see you, even in the day. Officers conducted a traffic emphasis last night to help mitigate speeding. Let's all work together to keep the roads safe.
  • Officers responded to 1,095 calls for service this week.
  • This week's photo is from our last Holiday Lights parade. We loved seeing everyone out there despite the rain. Thank you for a great season, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did!
  • Due to the timing of the holidays and my days out of the office, there will be no update for the next two weeks. The next one will come out the first full week in January. We hope that everyone has safe and happy holidays! See you in 2026.
