CARMEL, Ind. - June 8, 2026 - Parkview Health has expanded access to advanced joint replacement care in Hamilton County with the addition of Rory Sandberg, MD, MBA, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement.
Dr. Sandberg sees patients in collaboration with sports medicine surgeon Robert Klitzman, MD, at the Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) - Orthopedics office at 14535 Hazel Dell Parkway, Suite 100.
"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sandberg to the Carmel office as we continue to expand high-quality, specialized orthopedic care options for central Indiana residents," said Dr. Alan McGee, president, Parkview Health Orthopedics. "Dr. Sandberg is deeply committed to helping patients - especially those with degenerative conditions - regain function and mobility in the most effective manner possible. His expertise in total joint techniques and other innovative treatments will be invaluable to patients."
Dr. Sandberg focuses on primary and complex hip and knee replacement, including revision procedures, with an emphasis on modern outpatient techniques designed to help appropriate patients return home and recover more quickly.
"Joint replacement has evolved significantly, and many patients are now able to go home the same day as surgery," said Sandberg. "My focus is on using advanced techniques to make the process as smooth, safe and predictable as possible so patients can get back to walking, traveling and enjoying their daily lives with confidence."
Sandberg completed fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery at Indiana University Health after his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, with a focus on the business of medicine.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Sandberg is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
He previously served as medical director of total joint programs, chair of orthopedic surgery and specialty group leader within a large health system. This leadership experience - combined with his commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient care -- helps shape a more positive joint replacement experience centered on the individual needs of each patient.
Dr. Sandberg treats patients who have arthritis and degenerative conditions of the hip and knee, offering surgical and non-surgical options, including injections for pain relief. He is particularly focused on helping patients determine the right timing for surgery and ensuring they feel fully informed and confident in their decision-making.
"I want my patients to clearly understand all of their options and feel comfortable with the path they choose - whether that involves surgery or not," he said. "I am also a resource for referring providers, prioritizing timely access, clear communication and thoughtful recommendations so patients can move toward the right care."
Coming from a family of builders, Sandberg has long been drawn to precision and craftsmanship - principles he applies to joint replacement surgery, where attention to detail and thoughtful planning are critical to achieving durable, high-quality outcomes.
He sees patients in Carmel and performs surgical procedures at Riverview Health Noblesville Hospital, providing convenient access for patients throughout Hamilton County and surrounding communities.
Outside of work, Sandberg enjoys skiing, kayaking, music, traveling and baseball, and is active in his church.
