The revenue generated from broadcast or streaming will be shared in a 60:40 ratio: sixty per cent will be retained by clubs, and forty per cent will be attributed to the central revenue pool of IFL 2025-26, on mutually agreed payment terms.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has offered feeds of Prasar Bharati for regional broadcast and streaming to all Indian Football League (IFL) clubs for the 2025-26 season on a non-exclusive basis and without any access fee. Prasar Bharati is an autonomous statutory body and serves as India's public broadcaster. It has two verticals: Doordarshan for television and All India Radio for radio.
Not only the feeds but the sub-licensing fees have also been waived for the upcoming campaign of the IFL, the rebranded version of the I-League, the second division of men's football in India. However, the feeds will be provided at a location determined by Prasar Bharati. Moreover, the revenue generated from broadcast or streaming will be shared in a 60:40 ratio: sixty per cent will be retained by clubs, and forty per cent will be attributed to the central revenue pool of IFL 2025-26, on mutually agreed payment terms.
"Any onward transmission from such pre-determined location to a location required by the relevant broadcaster and/or streaming platform shall be at the club(s)'s sole cost," the letter sent to the club by AIFF on Wednesday, reads.
The development comes as another step to give increased autonomy to IFL clubs, with the league already run by a governing council - nine club representatives - and a managing committee - five club representatives - primarily comprising representatives from the IFL teams.
The waiver also comes as a contrast to Indian Super League 2025-26, the top flight, for which streaming and broadcasting rights went to FanCode for Rs. 8.62 Cr.
"AIFF will not bear any expenses, liabilities, or obligations (whether operational, technical, logistical, or otherwise of any kind in relation to such onward transmission and sub-license of the feed," the letter, which Sportstar has seen, further mentions.
"You shall exclusively be liable for any liability or obligations that arise due to such onward transmission, with AIFF having no role, responsibility, or involvement in any such arrangements."
The Federation has asked the clubs to confirm their interest, thereby replying with the following details:
(a) a brief description of the purpose for seeking such access
(b) documentary proof of arrangements with any third party for the broadcast and/or streaming of matches of IFL 2025-26
(c) List of matches of IFL 2025-26 intended for broadcast and/or streaming.
The IFL is scheduled to begin on February 27, with Namdhari FC taking on Aizawl FC. The season will feature 10 teams, with Diamond Harbour FC and Chanmari FC playing as the newly-promoted sides.
