The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), along with the Operational Technology Cybersecurity Coalition and other cybersecurity organizations, signed onto a letter urging Congress to reauthorize and enhance the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). Established in 2021, the SLCGP provides essential resources to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments as they face increasingly complex cyber threats, including ransomware and nation-state attacks.
The letter highlights the program's success in strengthening cyber preparedness through governance improvements, workforce development, and adoption of best practices like multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and migration to the .gov domain. It also emphasizes the importance of ensuring long-term program stability, reducing cost-share burdens for smaller jurisdictions, and simplifying the application process. Reauthorizing and strengthening the SLCGP is critical to advancing a whole-of-nation approach to cybersecurity and protecting critical infrastructure across the country.
