WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Rep. Dale Strong (R-AL), chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology, announced a hearing for Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to examine the threats adversaries could pose to U.S. agriculture and America's food supply.
" Our adversaries, like the Chinese Communist Party, are well aware-an attack on America's agriculture could severely disrupt our nation's food supply chain, endanger public health, and cripple our economy," Chairman Strong said. "Earlier this year, Chinese nationals attempted to smuggle potential agroterrorism materials into the U.S. to conduct research at the University of Michigan. Equally alarming are reports of a steady increase in foreign ownership of U.S. farmland near sensitive military sites. The lights are blinking red-that's why I'm holding a hearing to dive deeper into the severity of this threat and discuss decisive action Congress can take to defend America's food supply before it's too late. "
