The Economic, Trade, and Financial Affairs Subcommittee and the Political Affairs Subcommittee met at the Foreign Ministry on July 22 and 24 as part of preparations for the Sixth Mexico-Brazil Binational Commission Meeting.
The Economic, Trade, and Financial Affairs Subcommittee was co-chaired by Mexico's Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Raquel Serur Smeke; the Head of the Economic Diplomacy Unit, Farid Hannan; and the Director of the Mercosur Department at Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Francisco Cannabrava.
The Mexican delegation also included interagency representation from the Ministries of Finance, Economy and Agriculture, as well as officials from the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
The Political Affairs Subcommittee, held today, was co-chaired by Undersecretary Serur Smeke and her Brazilian counterpart, Secretary of Latin America and the Caribbean Ambassador Gisela Padovan. The Energy Ministry also participated.
Both sessions concluded successfully. Delegates reviewed progress on bilateral commitments, found new areas of cooperation, strengthened interagency coordination, and advanced agreements on strategic issues ahead of the two countries' principal forum for bilateral relations.
