NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (December 5, 2025) - The crisp night air made it start to feel a lot like Christmas as New Brunswick's annual Tree Lighting ushered in the season.
Residents and visitors were filled with holiday cheer as they gathered in Monument Square Park last night for the lighting of a beautiful, 30-foot-tall Christmas tree.
"Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Chanukah and Kwanzaa! Welcome to the Winter Wonderland and Annual Tree Lighting Celebration," Mayor Jim Cahill proclaimed, welcoming the crowd.
"The holidays are always a magical time in the City of New Brunswick, filled with cherished traditions and exciting activities. From carriage rides to our ice-skating rink to the 3rd Annual Gingerbread House Competition, there's something for everyone to enjoy," the Mayor said, moments before the tree lighting.
The night was filled with a reading of T'was the Night Before Christmas by Santa, a musical scene from "Frozen" by the George Street Playhouse Youth Musical Theater & Acting Students, and musical performances by Danielle Illario and Grace Luv.
The City's Winter Wonderland events are now in full swing. See a community list of events below and the
