On January 9, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. The two sides exchanged views on world economic situation and future cooperation between China and the WEF.

Ambassador Jia Guide stated that currently the geopolitical situation remained turbulent and economic globalization suffered a severe setback, posing significant challenges to the development of all countries. China has provided underpinning for the world economy with its strong resilience and dynamism, and shared opportunities with the world through higher-standard opening up. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the World Economic Forum and make greater contributions to promoting development and prosperity for all.

President Brende congratulated Ambassador Jia Guide on taking up his new post. He observed that multilateralism is facing headwinds, and dialogue should not be a luxury but a necessity. The World Economic Forum is committed to deepen cooperation with China, promote public-private dialogue, and jointly drive stable global economic development.
