Gov. Gianforte Highlights Turning Point USA at University of Montana

HELENA, Mont. - Governor Greg Gianforte recently joined students at the University of Montana in Missoula to highlight its Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter and encourage young Montanans to promote American values and engage in respectful civil discourse.

"While it seems like Americans are more divided than ever before, we must work to dial down political tensions and engage with one another respectfully," Gov. Gianforte said. "I'm grateful to the young leaders the University of Montana's TPUSA chapter for carrying on Charlie Kirk's legacy and working to restore love of our great country."

TPUSA is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 by the late Charlie Kirk who was only 19 at the time. The organization's mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government. Through its Club America program, high school students can start chapters to promote American exceptionalism, constitutional rights, civics education, and freedom.

Hosted by the University of Montana's TPUSA chapter, the governor held a townhall with students in which they asked questions and shared their perspectives with him.

The governor also spoke about the continued growth of TPUSA chapters across Montana's college campuses and high schools, including the organization's Club America initiative, which encourages civic engagement and leadership in high schools.

Trey Kinnamon, chapter president, welcomed the governor and emphasized the importance of providing a forum for students to engage in open dialogue about ideas and policy.

"It was great to host Governor Gianforte on campus," Kinnamon said. "Events like this give students the opportunity to ask questions, discuss important issues, and learn more about the principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government."

With a presence on over 3,500 college and high school campuses, TPUSA is the largest and fastest-growing youth organization in America. In Montana, 20 high schools have Club America chapters. Earlier this year, the governor joined nearly 70 Montana students who lead chapters at their high schools across the state to indicate his support to see a chapter at every single high school in Montana.
