BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' SCHEDULE
January 19 - January 23, 2025

MONDAY, January 19
County offices are closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

TUESDAY, January 20
8:30 a.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(b). Purpose: Construction of terms of existing/prior agreements related to joint ownership of comms center and 911 services agreement(s); statutory duties of the County Surveyor and discretionary service.
  2. Determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations; developing strategy for negotiations; and instructing negotiators pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(e). Purpose: Potential agreement with Town of Bayfield regarding Cinnamon Heights project; discussion of IGAs related to communications center property, building and equipment and 911 services; possible agreement with Surveyor regarding discretionary services.

10:00 a.m. - Planning Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

  1. Consideration of Resolution 2026-07 Amending La Plata County Land Use Code Related to Battery Energy Storage Systems.
  2. Consideration of Resolution 2026-08 Amending Chapter 69 of the La Plata County Code.

  1. Personnel matters pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4)(f). Purpose: Board interviews with county manager finalists.

5:00 p.m. - Public Meet and Greet for County Manager Finalists
The public is invited to attend a meet and greet for County Manager finalists Shawna Legarza and Drew Sanders. Each finalist will make a 30-minute presentation, followed by the opportunity to meet county residents. The event will be held from 5 to 7pm at the County Administration Building, located at 1101 E. 2nd Avenue in Durango.

THURSDAY, January 22
4:00 p.m. - Commissioner Chat with Commissioner Elizabeth Philbrick
Commissioner Elizabeth Philbrick will host Commissioner Chat at the Durango Public Library, located at 1900 E. Third Avenue. Residents are encouraged to stop by from 4pm to 6pm for an informal chat about county issues or concerns.

FRIDAY, January 23
11:30 a.m. - Counties and Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) Policy Meeting
The board will attend the virtual CCAT Natural Resources/Wildfire and General Government/Governance Committee meeting.

1:30 p.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. Personnel matters pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4)(f). Purpose: Board discussion about county manager finalists.
