MELBOURNE (April 16, 2026) - AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, today announced its appointment as an inaugural productivity policy partner to Transport Australia. AECOM has joined Transport Australia's productivity policy working group, drawing on the Company's deep expertise in advising and delivering iconic transportation infrastructure to support the industry body's goal of driving productivity improvements across the sector.
"As a policy partner to Transport Australia, we bring real-time insights from our work with transport clients across Australia - in capital cities, regional centres and along key freight corridors - spanning the full planning, delivery and operations lifecycle," said Mark McManamny, AECOM's chief executive for Australia and New Zealand and Transport Australia board director. "Our transport system is grappling with significant productivity pressures from growing demand, ageing road and rail assets, and construction and workforce constraints. These challenges are not unique to Australia, and we are closely connected to global peers who are at the forefront of applying automation, AI, data and digital engineering to tackle them."
As a policy partner, AECOM contributes its local knowledge and global expertise to Transport Australia's policy reports, including the recently launched Valuing Australia's Transport Network report.
"Transport Australia's mission is to bring industry and government together to help shape a more integrated, productive and sustainable transport system for Australia," said Transport Australia's chief executive officer, Ehssan Veiszadeh. "That mission depends on strong policy partnerships and genuine collaboration. The biggest challenges facing our sector, including productivity, network performance and long-term system reform, are shared challenges. They demand shared thinking and shared effort. That is why we are proud to work with AECOM, both as a valued partner and through its contribution on our Board. Partnerships like this strengthen the ideas, leadership and collaboration needed to deliver better outcomes for the sector and Australia."
"Productivity is front of mind for many of our clients well beyond the transport sector - including in aviation, water and other essential services," said Laura Fluck, AECOM's managing director for Advisory in Australia and New Zealand. "Because we work collaboratively across sectors, we can bring powerful multidisciplinary lessons to the policy table. Engineers are often overlooked as policy advisers, yet we are uniquely placed. We understand how strategy, planning and delivery intersect on the ground. We can help shape productivity policy, and then turn it into outcomes, because we know how these assets work and how to get more from them."
