PLA monitors and tracks transit of US military vessels through Taiwan Strait: Spokesperson
BEIJING, Jan. 17 -- From January 16 to 17, the US guided-missile destroyer USS John Finn and the oceanographic survey vessel USNS Mary Sears transited the Taiwan Strait.
"The Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command deployed its navy and air force troops to monitor and track the US vessels' movements, ensuring effective response and management," said Senior Colonel Xu Chenghua, spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command, on Saturday, adding that the troops of the Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command remain on high alert to resolutely safeguard China's national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace and stability.
