Vanderbilt to retire DUO multifactor authentication Sept. 22, 2025

Vanderbilt University will retire the DUO multifactor authentication service on Sept. 22, 2025, completing a key milestone in the university's transition to OneVU and Okta Verify.

Earlier this year, the Office of Cybersecurity launched VTrust, a major initiative to strengthen digital security and safeguard academic freedom. As part of this effort, the university introduced OneVU(single sign-on) and Okta Verify(multifactor authentication) as modern, streamlined solutions that improve both security and user experience.

With the transition now complete, Vanderbilt will discontinue PING(single sign-on) and DUO(multifactor authentication) as services available to the university community.

To prepare for this change, community members should:

  • Confirm enrollment in OneVUand Okta Verify.
  • Update any bookmarks or saved links to applications before Sept. 22, 2025.

For more information and resources on OneVU and Okta Verify, visit the Vanderbilt Cybersecuritywebsite. For technical assistance, contact the VUIT Tech Hub at https://tdx.vanderbilt.edu/or by calling 615-343-9999.
