U.S. HOMELAND SECURITY OFFICER INDICTED IN SHOOTING OVER NOISE COMPLAINT

Friday, October 23, 2026

State v. Quadrus Wilson

Decatur, Ga.- A U.S. Department of Homeland Security officer has been indicted for allegedly shooting a man after an argument over noise.

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, a DeKalb County Grand Jury indicted Quadrus Wilson, 49, of Marietta, on two charges of Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree, Terroristic Threats and Criminal Trespass in connection with the incident on July 27, 2026.

According to the preliminary investigation, officers with the DeKalb County Police Department responded just after 2:30 a.m. to a report of shooting at an apartment complex on Treecrest Parkway in unincorporated Decatur. When officers arrived, they spoke to one of Defendant Wilson's family members who said Defendant Wilson was at her apartment to celebrate his birthday. Defendant Wilson got into an argument with his relative's boyfriend and decided he wanted to go home. Wilson left briefly before coming back to the apartment and banging on the door, yelling "police." Wilson's family member barricaded the door so Defendant Wilson could not get in.

A neighbor who lived upstairs heard the commotion and told police that after about an hour of screaming and banging, he decided to open his front door, armed with a rifle, and call out to ask what all the noise was about. Defendant Wilson then went upstairs to confront the neighbor and with his gun drawn, identified himself as a police officer and ordered the man to drop his gun.

Instead, the man told investigators that he went back into his apartment and closed the door, though it stayed cracked open slightly. Defendant Wilson is then accused of opening the front door, demanding the man drop his gun and firing several shots into the man's apartment, hitting him in the right arm.

Defendant Wilson remained at the scene where police took him into custody, and he notified them that he was an officer with the Department of Homeland Security. Wilson has remained in the DeKalb County Jail without bond.

The case will be prosecuted by the District Attorney's Anti-Corruption Unit and has been assigned to DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Josh Geller. Defendant Wilson will soon be scheduled for an arraignment and then a trial date may be set.
