As online scams remain a significant concern in Singapore, TikTok continues its collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), and the Singapore Police Force (SPF), with the launch of its refreshed 2025 Scam Prevention Edition of its Digital Wellness Hub.
Following TikTok's campaigns in previous years, the hub remains dedicated to educating and empowering users to protect themselves. While the first half of 2025 saw a slight drop in the total number of scam cases, phishing, e-commerce, and job scams still accounted for about S$97 million in losses.
This year, the campaign takes a new approach that begins directly on the For You Feed. Users will see a series of clear, informative visuals designed to teach them how to spot two of the most prevalent scam types: phishing and e-commerce. These ads will guide users directly to the Digital Wellness Hub, where they can find more detailed examples, learn how to identify common red flags, and pick up practical steps to take when facing suspicious activities.
The hub serves as a central resource, organised into three key areas to educate the community to spot and report scams:
To further tackle prevalent scam trends (e.g. job scams, investment scams, phishing scams, e-commerce scams, and government officials impersonation scams), MHA and TikTok will launch a game show in December, exclusively on TikTok, that challenges participants to tell the real from the fake and highlighting the importance of critical thinking when identifying the imposter.
"Scam tactics are always evolving, so our approach to education must too. This year, we're going beyond traditional awareness campaigns with creative, hands-on experiences that help users recognise and avoid scams in more memorable and impactful ways. By continuing our close collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Crime Prevention Council, and the Singapore Police Force, we're combining efforts to build a safer, more informed online community together." - Chanida Klyphun, Director of Public Policy at TikTok Southeast Asia.
"Raising public awareness and empowering individuals to take protective measures are key to creating a more scam resilient society. TikTok's initiative demonstrates how digital platforms have and can play a meaningful role in reaching online audiences and promoting vigilance. We value this partnership with TikTok as we work together to safeguard our community against scams." - Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Devrajan Bala, Scams Public Education Office, Singapore Police Force.
By combining TikTok's platform reach with the expertise of local authorities, this collaboration aims to build a more vigilant and empowered community that can spot, avoid, and act against scams more effectively.
