U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon Visits Mat-Su Schools

Wasilla, AK -U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited two Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District schools with Alaska Department of Education and Early Development Commissioner Deena Bishop.

The school tours began with Mat-Su Career & Technical High School, where Principal Jason Ross showcased the school's forestry program, the private pilot/air frames construction facility, and teacher housing construction area. Students interacted with the Secretary, sharing their experiences and fondness for the school and its many career-oriented programs.

Following this, Secretary McMahon and Commissioner Bishop toured Knik Charter School with Principal Jason Moen. Here they met with students and teachers and participated in a History Rocks! event. Students showcased their knowledge of U.S. history and listened to inspiring messages from both the Secretary and Commissioner.

This visit is part of a larger tour of Alaska, and brief stop on a 50-state tour by Secretary of Education McMahon to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
