Kristen Edgreen Kaufman, SVP, Global Impact Initiatives, led a member delegation including Johnson & Johnson, ExxonMobil, Boeing, and American Chemistry Council (ACC) to the 22nd Meeting of the OECDWorking Party on Resource Productivity and Waste (WPRPW) in Paris, with additional USCIB members joining virtually. The meeting focused on the 2027-2030 OECD program of work and budget.
USCIB and Business at OECD (BIAC) delivered interventions on plastics and the environment (including the UN Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (INC)process), extended producer responsibility, transboundary movement of wastes, and critical raw materials (circular supply chains, traceability, & innovation).
The Working Party operates under the OECD Environment Policy Committee (EPOC) and has a mandate to support OECD member countries to improve resource efficiency, circular economy performance, and environmentally sound waste management, with an emphasis on evidence-based policymaking and cross-country comparability. Its work spans policy analysis, data harmonization, and the development of indicators, guidance, and best practices.
The delegation also held bilateral meetings with; the head of critical minerals at the International Energy Agency (IEA); Mary Beth Goodman,Deputy Secretary General at OECD; Kumi Kitamori,OECD Deputy Director of the Environment Directorate; Dr. Shardul Agrawala,OECD Head of the Division for Environment and Economy Integration Division; and Raelene Martin, Head of Sustainability, International Chamber of Commerce.
