Dr. Walayet Khan awarded the Mead Johnson Nutrition Endowed Chair position

The Schroeder Family School of Business Administration is thrilled to announce that Dr. Walayat Khan, Professor of Finance, has been appointed to the Mead Johnson Endowed Chair position at the University of Evansville.

Professor Khan has been a distinguished faculty member in finance at the University of Evansville since 1989. Throughout his tenure, he has combined teaching, research, and consulting to make a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and the broader professional community. An active research scholar, Professor Khan has maintained a consistent record of publishing in leading finance journals and presenting his work at national and international conferences. His expertise has also been sought by prominent organizations, including the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and the Chicago Stock Exchange.

Drawing on this experience, he has enriched the classroom with innovative approaches, from curriculum development and course design to the creation of the student-managed Investment Fund and the integration of research into experiential learning. Students have frequently praised his passion, enthusiasm, and personal attention, which have defined his teaching style for decades.

Beyond academia, he remains actively engaged in community service and volunteer work. Professor Khan's excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, including UE's Outstanding Teacher of the Year (1996), UE Global Scholar (2006 and 2014), and Outstanding Researcher in the Schroeder School of Business (2008, 2013, and 2018).

This honor recognizes Dr. Khan's exceptional continued contributions to the university. His 2025 newly published article is titled "Income and balance sheet diversification effects on banks' cost and profit efficiency: Evidence from the United States" in the Journal of Financial Research. Dr. Khan's unwavering commitment to academic excellence, and impactful leadership within the scholarly community is also recognized. The Mead Johnson Nutrition Endowed Chair is one of the highest accolades a faculty member can receive, and it reflects both the esteem of his peers, and the enduring legacy of excellence Dr. Khan continues to build.
