Marquette University mourns the loss of Dr. Rebecca Bardwell, longtime professor in the College of Education, who died on Saturday, May 23, following a six-year battle with cancer. She was 78.
Rebecca joined Marquette's faculty in 1978. In her 37 years at the university, she taught, supervised student teachers, guided many students through dissertation research and conducted her own scholarship. She retired in 2015.
Rebecca was noted for her ability to support doctoral students who did not fit the traditional mold, with a particular commitment to helping students from diverse cultural backgrounds navigate the challenges of doctoral research.
A full obituary is available online. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, donations may be made to Haptic Insight LLC, managed through Lake Forest College.
A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held on Saturday, June 20. Family and friends are welcome to gather beginning at 4 p.m., with a more formal time of sharing stories and memories beginning at 5 p.m. Reach out to Rebecca's family for further details.
