DOH ALERTS PUBLIC ABOUT GERBER® ARROWROOT BISCUITS RECALL DUE TO POTENTIAL PRESENCE OF FOREIGN MATERIALS

HONOLULU - The Hawai'i Department of Health (DOH) Food and Drug Branch (FDB) is alerting residents to a recall issued by Gerber Products Company for limited batches of its Gerber® Arrowroot Biscuits. The recall was issued due to the potential presence of soft plastic and/or paper pieces which may cause injury or pose a choking hazard. The material originated from an arrowroot flour supplier that initiated the recall.

The recalled product was distributed nationwide, including retailers like Walmart, Target and Longs Drugs in Hawai'i. The FDB is working with the local stores to ensure that the recalled product is no longer available for sale. The 10-digit batch code prior to the best before date can be identified on the back of the product packaging. The recalled product information is as follows:

There have been no reported cases of injury or illness in Hawai'i to date. The FDB advises consumers to verify if they purchased the recalled products. Consumers should not feed this product to their child and may return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a refund. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact their healthcare provider and should call 911 immediately if it is an emergency.
