Coming Soon: The ASLA 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture in L.A. Registration opens this month!
Experience the Future of Landscape Architecture in Los Angeles
The countdown is on! Mark your calendars for the ASLA 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture, taking place in the vibrant, sun-drenched metropolis of Los Angeles. As the premier event for our profession, this year's gathering promises an unparalleled exploration of design, resilience, and community. Registration officially opens at the end of April, so prepare to secure your spot for an unforgettable experience in the City of Angels.
Inspired by the 2026 theme, Action!, the conference invites us to examine how landscape architecture serves as a catalyst for healing, connection, and transformation. Los Angeles, a city defined by its diverse ecologies, iconic cinematic history, and bold urban experiments, provides the perfect setting for these discussions.
As conference planning committee co-chair for the ASLA Southern California Chapter, Scott Rice, ASLA, PLA, shares, "I cannot imagine a more perfect environment to grow and thrive within the world of landscape architecture than at this year's Conference in sunny Los Angeles. The opportunity to share a handful of autumnal days immersed with the past, present, and future stars of our awesome profession far exceeds the cost of missing out!"
A Living Laboratory of Design
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to step out of the convention center and into some of Southern California's most innovative landscapes. Our curated field sessions offer a deep dive into the projects shaping the region's future. You might find yourself exploring the Earvin Magic Johnson Park, where equity-based planning meets sustainable water resilience, or walking the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade to see how industrial edges are being reclaimed as ecologically rich community amenities.
For those interested in the intersection of culture and climate, sessions will highlight the LA River's ongoing transformation and the climate-adapted campus strategies being implemented across the city's academic institutions. From the immersive storytelling of Disneyland Park to the "Film Noir" urban sketches of downtown, the L.A. landscape is as much about narrative as it is about nature.
Why We Gather
Beyond the tours and education, the ASLA Conference is where the profession comes together to exchange ideas, build relationships, and gain new perspective.
As co-chair Evan Mather, FASLA, PLA, explains, "The ASLA Annual Conference is a highlight of our year, bringing together our profession to learn, connect, and experience inspiring work firsthand. We are excited to welcome you to Los Angeles, where our design community is shaping a more resilient and equitable future while preparing for the 2028 Summer Olympics. We look forward to sharing our city and continuing the conversations that move our profession forward."
