Traffic Shift of Route 2 Westbound in Colchester

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that Route 2 westbound approaching the bridge leading up to and just after Exit 20 will be reduced to a single lane with traffic shifted toward the median starting October 27, 2025.

Project 0028-0211 consists of pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing of the eastbound and westbound Route 2 roadway, drainage modifications, safety improvements to upgrade guiderail to current standards, and rehabilitation and improvements to the various bridges within the project limits. Roadway and bridge rehabilitation work will be performed on Route 2 eastbound and westbound in Colchester between (New Exit 20 and 25).

CTDOT Project No. 0028-0211 was awarded to American Roma JV at a cost of $43,699,900.00 on January 6, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 2 in Norwich.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be a right lane closure on Route 2 westbound starting Monday, October 27, 2025. Traffic control signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area or seek alternate routes.
