Aling's Long Wait to Own a Decent Home Ends Happily with Support from PT Timah Tbk

CENTRAL BANGKA -- Ernawati (45), affectionately known as Aling, could not hold back her emotions as she opened the door to her new home for the first time in Pangkalan Baru Village, Central Bangka Regency, on Friday (December 12, 2025). Accompanied by representatives of PT Timah Tbk, the village government, relatives, and close friends, Aling shed tears of joy.

The emotional moment reflected the care and concern shown by PT Timah Tbk in collaboration with the village government in providing a decent home for Aling and her only child.

Previously, the condition of the house where Aling lived was very poor and unfit for habitation. Several parts of the structure were even close to collapsing. Due to limited economic means, she and her child had no choice but to endure these conditions.

The Head of Padang Baru Village, Pangkalan Baru District, Central Bangka Regency, Amna, said that the village administration had made repeated efforts to propose assistance under the Uninhabitable Housing (RTLH) program for Aling every year.

"The condition of Ms. Aling's house was indeed very concerning and deserving of assistance. We from the village government have also made maximum efforts to propose RTLH assistance every year," Amna said.

She also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to PT Timah Tbk for its concern for local residents.

"We would like to thank PT Timah Tbk for helping one of our residents. We are very proud that PT Timah Tbk cares about a resident of Padang Baru Village. Thank God, today PT Timah has been able to provide a decent home for Ms. Aling, and this house is something we have been waiting for for a long time," she added.

Amna expressed hope that with the new home, Aling would be able to enjoy a better quality of life and be granted good health and happiness.

"Hopefully Ms. Aling will be healthier and happier in her new home. We also hope that in the future there will be more assistance programs for other residents in need," she said.

Meanwhile, Aling shared her gratitude and happiness in a trembling voice. She admitted that she never expected to receive a new, livable home.

"I am very happy to receive a new home from PT Timah Tbk. I had hoped for a long time that my house could be repaired, but PT Timah instead built me a completely new house," Aling said.

She also expressed her heartfelt thanks to PT Timah Tbk for the assistance that has transformed her life.
