NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (June 7, 2026) - As World Cup excitement builds globally, downtown New Brunswick is set to host a series of public watch parties and an educational youth event to celebrate the tournament.
The festivities begin Thursday, June 11, with a live broadcast of the official opening match between Mexico and South Africa. The game will be shown live from Mexico City on a 350-square-foot outdoor screen at The Yard, 40 College Ave. Beginning at 3 p.m., the viewing will feature a full-day festival including live mariachi music, traditional Lotería games, face painting, giveaways, and food.
Students in grades 6-12 will also have the opportunity to connect academics with the sport. On Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m., the New Brunswick Free Public Library, 60 Livingston Ave., and the AI Jerli Academy will host a bilingual World Cup STEM Workshop.

Outdoor sports viewing continues Tuesday, June 16, at Liberty Square Park, 150 Neilson St. The park will host a 3 p.m. watch party for the group-stage match between France and Senegal, with attendees encouraged to wear team colors.
