Commissioner Rosado Highlights Tax Rebate Program for Seniors

Published on March 12, 2026

Seniors in the City of Miami are beginning to receive property tax rebate checks through the Senior Citizen Tax Relief Program, approved as part of the City's Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget to provide meaningful relief for residents living on fixed incomes.
During his campaign, Commissioner Ralph "Rafael" Rosado committed to finding ways to help seniors remain in their homes. Now serving as District 4 Commissioner, Rosado has continued advancing that commitment through policies focused on affordability.

The program provides a 100% rebate of the City of Miami's portion of property taxes for eligible senior homeowners.

To qualify, residents must be 65 years of age or older, and the property must be their primary homesteaded residence within the City of Miami.
In October 2025, Commissioner Rosado also formally requested that the State of Florida consider expanding senior property tax relief programs, continuing his efforts to support seniors across the community and urged the City Manager to reach out to seniors to enroll in the program.
For many residents, the rebate represents more than financial assistance-it helps longtime homeowners remain in the neighborhoods they helped build. The initiative reflects the Affordability pillar of the Commissioner's C.A.S.A. Master Plan.
Commissioner Rosado recently visited with Alina, a District 4 senior who received her rebate check, to hear directly about what the program means for residents.
