On 26 September 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a luncheon co-organized by U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC) during the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event was co-hosted by Ambassador Brian McFeeters, Interim President and CEO, USABC, and Mr. John Goyer, Vice President for Southeast Asia and Oceania, USCC. Also in attendance were executives from USABC's member companies, namely Cheniere Energy, Reckitt, PepsiCo, Guardian Industries, Philip Morris, Boeing, 3M, Airbnb, Mastercard, P&G, Amazon, I Squared Capital, and Asia Group Advisors.
During the luncheon, the Foreign Minister discussed the Government's economic policies and priorities to navigate geopolitical competition and common economic challenges, particularly from the reciprocal tariff on Thai exports. These include promoting political stability, economic restructuring, and strengthening the economy at all levels, in particular the grassroots economy and SMEs, as well as advancing new engines of growth such as electric vehicles, semiconductors, precision medicine, and the digital economy. The Government will also accelerate Free Trade Agreements (FTA) negotiations and promote Thailand's proactive role in international economic frameworks.
The Foreign Minister also urged U.S. private sector to play an active role to address common economic challenges with Thailand. The U.S. private sector reiterated its readiness to work closely with the newly appointed Government of Thailand, which remains an important market in the region, with pro-business policies and foreign investment attraction measures. The USABC will lead a delegation to Thailand in November 2025.
