NMMA Hosts Constructive Meeting at Smoker Craft Boats with Indiana Governor Mike Braun and Canadian Trade Representatives

On October 24, NMMA joined Indiana Governor Mike Braun for a productive and forward-looking meeting at Smoker Craft Boats in New Paris, Indiana. The discussion focused on several key issues impactingIndiana's marine manufacturers and broadermanufacturing community.

During the meeting, Governor Braun emphasized his administration's commitment to supporting small and medium-sized manufacturers through emerging tax policies designed to enhance competitiveness, as well as efforts to address energy challenges that affect industrial operations across the state. The conversation also touched on the Governor's initiatives to strengthen housing and workforce development, critical needs for sustaining Indiana's manufacturing leadership and ensuring companies like SmokerCraft can continue to grow and thrive.
Following the meeting with Governor Braun, NMMA and the SmokerCraft team welcomed Myriam Belisle and Abigail Carr from the Canadian Consulate in Chicago, who representthe Government of Québec, for a productive meeting and tour of SmokerCraft'sfacilities. Discussions focused on several cross-border trade issues impactingthe recreational boating industry, such as tariffs on aluminum extrusions and Ontario Bill 96, which requires businesses in the province to communicate and provide documentation in French.Smoker Craft's strong presence in the Canadian market and its significant contribution to Canada's economy through boat sales and distributionwas also highlighted.
