Federal Subsistence Moose Hunt Opened for Two Additional Days in FM1106 Hunt Area

COPPER CENTER, ALASKA - The National Park Service is sharing this announcement from Department of the Interior. The same content appears as a Federal Subsistence Board Bulletin.

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Acting Superintendent Joshua Scott, under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, is opening a two-day moose hunting season in the Unit 11 federal registration permit hunt area (FM1106). The season will open at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 21 and close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, unless modified by a subsequent federal special action.

The FM1106 hunt area encompasses the Unit 11 remainder and the portion of Unit 11, south and east of a line running along the north bank of the Chitina River, the north and west banks of the Nizina River, & the west bank of the West Fork of the Nizina River, continuing along the western edge of West Fork Glacier to the summit of Regal Mountain. A map is available at the park's headquarters in Copper Center and by contacting [email protected].

Current FM1106 permit holders can use their existing permit for this hunt.
