Spotlight on Innovation: Our Interim Assistant City Manager

Recently, our own Interim Assistant City Manager, Sukari Beshears, was featured in the Charterworks article "Steal this idea: The City of Brentwood's recognition revamp," which highlighted how Brentwood shifted from annual, one-size-fits-all awards to a real-time, flexible, employee engagement platform. Our platform, BEACON, provides, real-time recognition, so instead of waiting for annual ceremonies or milestone awards, team members and supervisors can now send and receive "badges" instantly, celebrating everyday effort, creativity, and support. It also provides, peer-to-peer engagement and encourages colleagues to recognize one another, building camaraderie and uplifting teamwork across departments. All acknowledgments, whether for performance, milestones, or just being supportive, appears on our BEACON dashboard, letting everyone see how their contributions matter.

This is just the beginning. In the months ahead, we plan to recognize Sukari's vision and roll out additional features on BEACON and grow our employee engagement program. So thank you for being part of a community where recognition leads to connection, and collective triumph. Together, we're building a workplace, and a city, that's stronger, kinder, and more inspired every day.
