Nelson Crone, farm director for the Matanuska Experiment Farm, will lead a free historical walking tour of the Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center in Palmer.
The noon tour on Friday, March 20, will be outdoors. Participants are asked to dress for the weather and be prepared for uneven or icy terrain.
The farm was established in 1917. It is one of seven Alaska agricultural experiment stations founded between 1898 and 1917 to research farming in a northern climate. Crone will delve into the farm's history and the agricultural research conducted there.
Matanuska Experiment Farm and Extension Center is located at 1509 S. Georgeson Drive, Palmer.
