COLUMBUS-State Representative Ty Mathews was pleased to welcome the Taiwan Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Wen-Jane Tu, and leaders of the Taiwanese agriculture industry to the Ohio Statehouse this week, strengthening trade partnerships between Ohio and Taiwan.
During the visit, leaders in both Ohio and Taiwan's agriculture industries signed Letters of Intent, outlining Taiwan's intended purchases of corn and soybean products from Ohio. Expected to result in $6.4 billion in revenue, this investment will be transformational for Ohio farmers.
"I am proud and grateful to be part of such a momentous occasion," said Mathews. "Announcing this investment shows that Ohio is a global player and that we are open to continued investment in all sectors."
Members of the Ohio General Assembly were also in attendance throughout the visit to discuss Ohio's partnership with Taiwan and learn about best practices that may be beneficial to agriculture in Ohio.
Mathews presented a proclamation from the Ohio House and Senate to the Taiwanese Delegation in honor of the occasion.
