Slope Stabilization Jordan Hill Road in Newtown

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that slope repair and stabilization will be initiated on Route 34 in Newtown. This project is scheduled to start construction activities on Monday, August 3 and estimated to be completed on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The project 0170-3758, consists of a lane closure with a temporary traffic signal for alternating one way traffic, starting August 3, 2026, during which the following work will be completed: The installation of temporary precast concrete barrier, installation of steel sheet piles, stone rip rap and pavement line striping.

CTDOT Project No. 0170-3758 was awarded to Dayton Construction on 08/19/2024 and is scheduled to be completed 10/31/2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District IV in Thomaston

ALTERNATING ONE WAY TRAFFIC INFO

Route 34 will have a temporary traffic signal installed starting Monday, August 3 to Saturday, October 31, 2026. Traffic traveling on Route 34 will be directed through the project with vehicles allowed one way at a time between Jordan Hill Road and Great Quarter Road.

Traffic control signage patterns and uniformed flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone during initial set up and removal.
