Grand Jury Issues Decision in Fatal Shooting
DENTON, TX, Sept. 30, 2025 - The Denton Police Department was notified today that a Denton County Grand Jury has returned a no bill of indictment for the fatal shooting of Jon Ruff on Aug. 9.
As with all homicide cases, Denton PD conducted a thorough investigation then presented all evidence to the District Attorney's Office for an independent grand jury review.
As the grand jury has reviewed the facts of the case and declined to formally charge the person with a crime, the department's investigation is closed. Denton PD respects the grand jury's decision and extends condolences to Ruff's family, friends, and loved ones.
