Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh in January 2026 to mark two important awareness and remembrance days.

Monday 26 January 2026 - Red for International Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day Both buildings will be illuminated in red to mark International Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day. Kawasaki Disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in the UK and affects around 1,000 children each year, with numbers continuing to rise. Awareness is vital, as early diagnosis and treatment can significantly reduce the risk of long-term heart damage. However, children are often misdiagnosed before receiving the correct diagnosis, increasing the risk of serious complications. You can learn more at https://www.societi.org.uk

Tuesday 27 January 2026 - Purple for Holocaust Memorial Day Illuminated from 8pm to midnight, in purple to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, and remembering the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, as well as those persecuted and killed during Nazi persecution and in more recent genocides. The day encourages everyone to reflect, remember, and stand against prejudice and hatred. Further reading at https://hmd.org.uk/
