On 9 June 2026 , H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, in attending the opening ceremony of the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF 2026) held at the Melia Hanoi Hotel, Hanoi.
The opening ceremony featured a keynote address by the Prime Minister of Viet Nam, followed by statements of the Prime Ministers of Cambodia, the Lao PDR, Thailand and Timor-Leste, as well as the Secretary-General of ASEAN, and a representative of the United Nations.
The Prime Minister delivered remarks commending Viet Nam for convening the Forum amid growing global uncertainty, geopolitical fragmentation, and rapid technological change. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of enhancing supply chain, food, and energy security, including through Thailand's Southern Land Bridge initiative and support for regional energy cooperation. He stressed that ASEAN's success must be measured by tangible benefits for its people and called for closer cooperation to address cyber threats, online scams, public health risks, and natural disasters, alongside continued investment in human capital. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to working with ASEAN Member States and partners to build a stable, resilient, and prosperous region.
