NEW YORK-The Federal Reserve Bank of New York today announced the appointment of Jeff T. Blau to its Second District Advisory Council, a group of senior business leaders that provides the New York Fed president and leadership with insights about business and economic conditions in the Second District.
Blau is chief executive officer and a partner of Related Companies, responsible for directing and overseeing the company's $100 billion portfolio of assets owned or under development, which span nearly every sector in real estate. Blau joined Related as an analyst in 1990 and worked his way up to partner before being named CEO in 2012. Under Blau's leadership, the firm remains deeply committed to its roots in preserving and developing affordable housing, while also developing large-scale signature projects such as Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in the United States.
Blau is also the chairman and founding partner of energyRe, an energy company established in 2019 out of Related's sustainability practices which today is a leader in utility-scale transmission, generation, storage and distributed generation solutions. Blau is also the founder and Chairman of Related Digital, a leading data center development and investment platform with a $35 billion of active construction underway for leading American hyperscale companies.
Blau and his wife, Lisa, established the Blau Family Foundation in 2014, which provides grants to education, health, arts and cultural organizations. The Jeff and Lisa Blau Adolescent Consultation Center for Resilience and Treatment at Mount Sinai is a clinical and research platform established in 2020 to increase understanding of psychiatric illness, particularly schizophrenia.
Blau serves on the boards of Equinox Holdings, Inc., Sun Communities, Robin Hood Foundation, The Wharton Graduate School, The University of Michigan, Lincoln Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Partnership for New York City, and The Real Estate Roundtable.
Blau completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and received a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
