Lithuania responds to the especially difficult situation in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv, where power supply is only available during several hours at night due to the persistent Russian fire and central heating is also seriously disrupted in most of the areas, with an urgent donation of power generators worth over EUR 2 million. The aid is targeted to support consistent functioning of key services: heating, electricity and critical infrastructure.
"Temperatures in Kyiv have been significantly below zero for a while, especially during the night, and thousands of citizens are facing real health and survival risks. Power generators come as critical humanitarian aid. Lithuania has been and will be a reliable donor to Ukraine", says Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
The decision is consistent with the continued commitment of the Republic of Lithuania to ensure comprehensive support to Ukraine. Lithuania will aim to support Ukraine defence with EUR 223 million in 2026 which will translate into weaponry, amnion, military training, etc.
