On November 5th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the newly appointed Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Lithuania, Ole Andreas Lindeman.
The meeting focused on the development of cooperation between the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania with a view to achieve greater integration among the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8), increas the visibility of the Office's activities in the public, especially in the regions of Lithuania, and the possibility of getting involved in Lithuania's support initiatives for Ukraine.
"The cooperation among the Nordic and Baltic countries is based on unity and shared values. This is the starting point for achieving the goal of maximally integrating the NB8 regional format, which would unite our countries not only in foreign affairs and defense, but also in areas such as public resilience to information threats, preparedness for crisis situations, and the promotion of civic engagement," Minister Budrys noted.
The Nordic Council of Ministers is a Nordic intergovernmental cooperation organisation that works to strengthen regional cooperation and coordinate common policies.
In 2026, the Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its activities in Lithuania. The Office implements programmes and projects promoting the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in the fields of environment, culture, education, innovation, civil society, media, etc.
