Nearly Half of Henry Ford Health Hospitals Receive ‘A’ in Hospital Safety Grades

The Leapfrog Group's Spring 2026 Safety Grades have been released, and five Henry Ford Health hospitals were awarded 'A' grades in overall patient safety performance.

Three of the hospitals honored - Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital, and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital - continued a streak of excellence for safe patient care. Henry Ford West Bloomfield earned an 'A' for the 10th straight period, Henry Ford Jackson for the fourth straight, and Henry Ford Providence Novi for the third straight period.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital were also cited by The Leapfrog Group for the highest honors in their Spring 2026 Safety Grades.

The three Oakland County 'A's for Henry Ford Health were the only ones in Michigan's second most-populated county. Henry Ford Macomb was the only 'A' rating in Macomb County, the state's third most-populated county.

Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc maintained its 'B' rating for at least the sixth straight period amid an ongoing labor dispute, the only hospital in Genesee County to earn that high of a mark.
Five Henry Ford Health hospitals receiving an 'A' grade represents a 25% improvement for the system since the previous cycle, when the system led the state with four 'A's.

This time, nearly half of the system's 12 acute-care hospitals received an 'A' grade, a rate about 10% higher than Michigan's average of 32.1% of total hospitals receiving an 'A' from Leapfrog.

"These safety grades reflect the unwavering commitment of our 50,000+ Henry Ford Health team members to do the right thing for every patient, every time," said Dr. Edward Pollak, Henry Ford Health's Chief Quality Officer. "Everyone can take pride in being part of such an incredible organization."

Grades are awarded each spring and fall to nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide, based on evaluations by a national panel of patient safety experts.

The panel uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and other supplemental data sources to determine each grade.

Hospitals receive a single letter grade - A, B, C, D or F - reflecting their overall performance in protecting patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
