Amato Bill Ensuring Modern and Proper Real Estate Education Signed into Law

Carmen Amato Posted on July 30, 2026

Bipartisan legislation sponsored by Senator Carmen Amato, Jr. (R-Ocean) and Senator Joseph Lagana (D-Bergen) was signed into law to strengthen education requirements for New Jersey real estate professionals.

The bill, A-4947/S-4219, will now update the standards real estate professionals must meet to maintain their licenses and ensure they stay current with changes affecting the industry.

"People count on real estate professionals to guide them through one of the most important decisions they'll ever make. I was proud to work with Senator Lagana and the New Jersey Realtors on this bill to elevate industry standards and bolster consumer protections," said Senator Amato. "By strengthening education requirements, we are ensuring real estate professionals have the tools and knowledge necessary to best serve their clients."
