ATLANTA - State Representative Bryce Berry (D-Atlanta) and Swipe Out Hunger will hold a College Affordability Advocacy Day press conference on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. on the first floor of the Georgia State Capitol.
The event seeks to bring together students from across the state to advocate directly with legislators for policies that would make their life more affordable. During this event, college students will also advocate for need-based aid expansion and HOPE expansion for HBCU's.
During the 2025 legislative session, Rep. Berry introduced House Bill 716, the Hunger Free Campus Act, which would establish a need-based financial aid program to provide grants to eligible students for combating food insecurity. Also, Rep. Berry recently introduced House Bill 1052, which would authorize the Georgia Student Finance Commission to establish a grant program to assist eligible students with off-campus living expenses.
