The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release new 2020-2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates to embargo subscribers beginning Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. ET, which are set to be publicly released on Jan. 29.
The ACS provides a wide range of statistics about the nation's people and housing, such as language spoken at home, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and rent, income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. It is the only source of local estimates for most of the 40-plus topics it covers.
The statistics will be available to embargo subscribers beginning Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. ET for a variety of geographic areas, including all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional and state legislative districts, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, counties, places, and other geographies down to census tracts and block groups.
Embargo subscribers will have access to these statistics from Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. ET to Jan. 29, at 12:01 a.m. ET. Wire and distribution services are prohibited from distributing embargoed news stories and data files before the embargo period ends. For more information, refer to the Census Bureau's embargo policy. All data products on data.census.gov, the API, summary files, and other tools will be made publicly available by 10 a.m. ET on Jan. 29.
