Sidewalk and road closures scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 3

(COLUMBIA, MO)- Two closures will take place the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 3. Both are expected to end by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, weather permitting.

North Eighth Street sidewalk closure - Columbia College campus, Sept. 29-Oct. 3
From Monday, Sept. 29, through Friday, Oct. 3, the southeast sidewalk of North Eighth Street will close in front of Miller Hall, 602 N. Eighth St., on the Columbia College campus.

Taos Construction will excavate the sidewalk as part of the Miller Hall demolition. This sidewalk work is for the City's Water & Light department to disconnect the building's water line.

The northeast sidewalk will remain open. Signs will be posted to guide pedestrians around the closure.

Hitt Street closure - Cherry to Locust streets, Sept. 30-Oct. 3
From Tuesday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 3, Hitt Street will close between Cherry and Locust streets for replacement of deteriorated ADA sidewalk ramps and panels.

The sidewalk on the east side of Hitt Street in front of First Presbyterian Church, 16 Hitt St., will also close.

During the closure, vehicles will only be able to enter and exit the Tenth and Cherry Parking Garage from Hitt Street to the south. The Tenth Street entrance and exit will be unaffected.

Detour and closure signs will be posted. Pedestrians will be directed to safe crossing areas.
