SCO Secretary-General Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar
On September 24, 2025, in New York, USA, within the framework of participation in the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, held a meeting with the Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar state, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.
The Secretary-General briefed his interlocutor on the main outcomes of the SCO events held on August 31 - September 1 in Tianjin, China - the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO and the meetings in the "SCO Plus" format.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects of practical interaction between the SCO and Qatar, with an emphasis on the implementation of the Memorandum on granting the country the status of SCO Dialogue Partner.

The interlocutors agreed to hold consultations in the near future between the SCO Secretariat and the structural subdivisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar in order to develop concrete areas and modalities for joint work.
The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere.
On September 17, 2021, in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states adopted a decision to grant the State of Qatar the status of Dialogue Partner of the Organization.
On September 14, 2022, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, a Memorandum was signed on granting the State of Qatar the status of SCO Dialogue Partner.
